弗拉迪米尔阿什肯纳吉的《普罗科菲耶夫：灰姑娘 ＆ 格拉祖诺夫：四季》在2009年的《企鹅古典唱片指南》中推荐为四星。
这套唱片主要收录了普罗科菲耶夫的《灰姑娘》和格拉祖诺夫的《四季》，由大师阿什肯纳吉指挥克利夫兰交响乐团演奏。除此以外，这个系列唱片是由Decca公司用简装廉价双CD出版的，两张CD只售一张的价格，非常超值！
谢尔盖·普罗科菲耶夫，前苏联作曲家、钢琴家。自幼学习音乐，1904年入彼得堡音乐学院，在毕业演奏会上独奏自己创作的《降D大调第一钢琴协奏曲》并获安东·鲁宾斯坦奖。最初以钢琴家身份活跃在国内外乐坛。他早期作品的音乐语言清新而有朝气，继承了古典传统而又有大胆革新的精神，某些作品则受现代主义影响；晚期作品风格简朴而抒情，尤以《第七交响曲》最为典型。
普罗科菲耶夫的这部舞剧配乐，作于1941-1944年。1941年着手后，因第二次世界大战激化急于创作歌剧《战争与和平》及称为《三大战争奏鸣曲》的第六、第七、第八3首钢琴奏鸣曲而搁置。后因哈恰图良的舞剧《加雅涅》1942年首演而再执笔，但亦没有一气呵成，而是拖至1944年，呈献给“伟大的柴科夫斯基”。
此套配乐普罗科菲耶夫更强调古典性．他说：“我尽量重视舞蹈的本质，所以在传统的古典舞剧范畴里作曲。”1945年11月21日在莫斯科首演，共50曲。
格拉祖诺夫的音乐创作，吸收了柴科夫斯基的抒情性和鲍罗丁的史诗性，形成其特有的乐观明朗、抒情叙事的音乐风格。尽管他与俄罗斯民族乐派作曲家的“强力集团”过从甚密，他的作品大多属于欧洲音乐的主流。创作以光辉灿烂、富于魅力和娴熟的技巧见长。优雅精致、情趣盎然的独幕舞剧《四季》（作品67号）完成于1899年，1900年于彼得堡首演。包含冬、春、夏、秋四个场景，共16首乐曲。
这套唱片的指挥者阿什肯纳吉的演出曲目非常广泛，从莫扎特到普罗科菲耶夫，但是以肖邦为重心。他的录音数量相当庞大。近年他的音乐活动以指挥为重心，1987年到1994年担任英国皇家爱乐音乐总监，1989年到2000年担任柏林德意志交响乐团（前名柏林广播交响乐团）首席指挥与音乐总监，1998年起又成为捷克爱乐首席指挥。
