Lowell Fulson于1921年3月31日出生于Oklahoma州的Tulsa.他的一生可以算是歌唱的一生.从小他就在弦乐团里演唱和演奏吉他.1940年他跟随着歌手Texas Alexander学习唱歌和到处游历,并和一群经验丰富的Bluesman一起到处表演。1943年到1945年期间,他被召入海军.在退役之后的几个月里,Lowell来到了California的Oakland,在那里他结识了音乐制作人Bob Geddins.1948年,他拥有了自己的第一张专辑,单曲”Three O’Clock Blues”也让他一举成名.这首歌曲后来被B.B.King翻唱依然热度不减.1948年后期,Swing Time records的经理Jack Lauderdale和Lowell签约, 正式成为旗下歌手.在这段期间里,在他的若干作品中,例如改编自Memphis Slim单曲”Nobody Loves Me”的”Every Day I Have the Blues”;双碟版的”Lonesome Christmas”;以及中板的作品”Low Society Blues”,他和钢琴家Lloyd Glenn,低音Saxophone乐手Earl Brown的合作精彩绝伦.他们的加入让Fulson的作品更加完美.后来Lowell组建了自己的乐队,有段时间,他和当时还是钢琴手的Ray Charles,以及Saxophone乐手Stanley Turrentine合作,作品虽然不多,但首首经典.在唱片市场经历过一段不景气的时光之后,他在1953年签约了Chess Label.这算是一张卖身契,时间相当长.这首”Reconsider Baby”就是他签约Chess之后的首张单曲,单曲里汇集了当下最出色的乐手,除了Fulson自己演奏钢琴之外,Sax部分邀请了David Fathead Newman,和Leroy Cooper两位重量级人物分别吹奏高音和中音两声部.1965年,在唱片公司的催促下, 他完成了”Black Nights”这张专辑,单曲”Tramp”让Fulson再次体验到成功.1992的”Hold On”和1995的”Them Update Blues”则是他最后的作品.1999年3月6号Lowell在Long Beach因为糖尿病去世。
